Governor Sang helps distribute fertilizer to Nandi farmers

Nandi Governor Stephen Sang distributes Fertilizer expanding the fertilizer distribution network, in collaboration with the national government aimed at better serving farmers.
The establishment of additional distribution centers will streamline the delivery process, ensuring efficient last-mile distribution, and reducing the need for farmers to travel long distances to obtain essential agricultural inputs.

Governor Sang accompanied PS for Agriculture Dr. Paul Ronoh during the launch of the subsidized fertilizer last-mile distribution program in Lessos in Nandi Hills Constituency, Chepterit and Mosoriot in Chesumei Constituency and Kipkaren Salient in Mosop Constituency.
In January this year, Mithika Linturi, Cabinet Secretary for Agriculture and Livestock Development, handed over 2,300 bags of the commodities to farmers in the county.
He declared that his ministry's goal for this year is to deliver twice as many subsidized fertilizer bags as it did the six million that were given out in 2023.

Maize production is expected to increase from 61 million bags to 80 million bags thanks to this effort, which will also address post-harvest losses by utilizing 100 mobile grain dryers.
"We are happy that, with the help of subsidized fertilizer, we were able to produce 80 million bags of maize in 2023," Linturi remarked.
Thirty arrests have been made as part of the government's campaign against chemicals and fake seeds.
