Turkana Health Officers Trained in Community Case Management

The County Government of Turkana has joined forces with the Turkana Church Development Mission to train 51 Community Health Promoters (CHPs) and Community Health Assistants (CHAs).

The training focuses on Integrated Community Case Management (ICCM). This initiative, conducted under the "ACCEPT" project in Loima Sub-County, aims to bolster the capabilities of healthcare providers in identifying, managing, and treating common childhood illnesses.

Over the course of five intensive days, culminating on April 26, 2024, participants underwent comprehensive training to enhance their skills in addressing healthcare needs.

By empowering these frontline health workers, the program seeks to bridge the gap in healthcare accessibility, particularly for families residing in remote regions of Turkana.

Integrated Community Case Management plays a pivotal role in extending essential healthcare services to vulnerable populations, ensuring timely intervention and treatment for childhood illnesses.

Through this collaborative effort, the County Government and Turkana Church Development Mission reaffirm their commitment to improving healthcare outcomes and promoting the well-being of communities across the region.

This partnership underscores the importance of collaborative initiatives between governmental institutions and non-profit organizations in addressing public health challenges at the grassroots level.

By investing in the capacity-building of healthcare professionals and fostering community-based healthcare delivery models, Turkana County takes a significant step towards achieving its healthcare objectives.
