We've Been Locked Out in Mau Demarcation Exercise-Ogiek
Community fear at the end of the exercises, they might end up losing their ancestral land.

The exercise of marking boundaries by government in East part of Mau has allegedly locked out Ogiek Community.
Community led by Chairman Council elders John Lebolo Sironga accuse government for assigning impersonators pretending to be council of elders from the Ogiek Community to mark the boundaries from Sururu, Likia, Mauche, Nessuit, Mariashoni and Bararget.
"This exudes fears of restricting people's right of access to information" Lebolo said.
He was backed by his secretary Martin Lelei who said instead the exercise sees peoples from Bomet, Transmara, Kericho and Baringo being resettled.
"Ogiek community are living in worry that at the end of the exercises, they might end up losing their struggle both local and regional courts and finally losing their ancestral land" Lelei said.
They are therefore appealing to the government to carry on the baoundary marking activity in close consultation with the real Ogiek elders and leaders to avert possible future conflicts.
