Tanker driver injured in accident, locals rush for oil

One person has been taken to the hospital after an accident on the Nairobi-Mombasa route.
Police say that the victim was the driver of an ill-fated tanker involved in the early yesterday morning incident.
The event occurred after the driver lost control of the car, which crashed in the Lukenya section of the Athi River.

The motorist was transported to the Machakos County Referral Hospital for treatment.
Francis Nzioki, the head of Machakos County's fire service, claimed the lorry was transporting crude oil from Mombasa to Nairobi.
Police officials rushed to the site to deter members of the public who attempted to syphon the raw oil from the tanker.
